Why We Walk: The ANC Team Joins Others Around the Country to Defeat ALS

We have a deep commitment to compassionate care for our patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting nerves in the brain and spinal cord. We get to know our patients and their families and value being part of their health journeys. Now, we’re coming together outside of the clinic walls to support them and work to defeat ALS altogether.

This fall, our Austin Neuromuscular Center team will join others around the country walking to raise awareness and funds for ALS research and treatment.

The event in Austin, Texas is on October 21, 2023 and is sponsored by the ALS Association (ALSA) of Texas. The ALSA has provided invaluable support to our patients in finding local resources and connections across the country.

Our Shared Mission with the ALSA

Every third Tuesday of the month, we conduct a multidisciplinary ALS clinic, providing comprehensive care to ALS patients. We coordinate multiple specialties to offer holistic care for each patient. The ALSA helps with loaner equipment, finding financial assistance and grants, insurance navigation,  counseling, and other support services. We share the ALSA mission of optimal care for ALS patients and are proud to partner with the ALSA in the Texas Walk to Defeat ALS. We strive to provide our ALS patients with all of their needs so they can live their lives to the fullest for as long as possible.

Join Our Team

The statistics are not easy to read. Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS. In the same period of time, someone will pass away from ALS. We are committed to changing those facts and finding a cure for ALS.
